The H-21 served with the U.S. Army from 1953 and was the world's first
large transport helicopter. Equipped with a tandem engine producing 1445 Hp, the
banana ( so called because of its shape ) was capable of transporting 12 injured or
14 soldiers. The Luftwaffe ( 1st Air Rescue and Liason in Fursteinfeldbruck ) received
the first 5 H-21Cs of the German Federal Armed Forces in 1957. However, the bulk of the
32 aircraft ordered went to the army air corps, where they saw service until the beginning
of the seventies.
This excellently detailed kit can be built with the doors open or closed. Has a detailed
cockpit with instrument panel and a hold with benches. Detailed undercarage and seperate
mesh for the engine section. Has the rescue winch and movable rotors. Nose antenna and decals.
In scale 1:72, this large kit is made by Revell of Germany.
