Fixed Wing Aircraft
B-17 F FLying Fortress Airplane
B-17 F Flying Fortress Airplane Kit
The heavy American bomber B-17 is without a doubt one of the symbols of W.W. 2. Used from
1941 by 8th air fleet and the RAF, this heavy four-engined bomber seemed an easy target for
the German fighter planes. However, the tremendous firing power of up to 11 machine guns in
flexible positions or turrets turned the B-17 into a flying fortress. The much improved
B-17 F was produced from 1942 until September 1943 when the figure stood at 3405 units. It
served successfully until the end of the war. The four Curtis Wright R-1820 engines delivered
1200 PS each. Maximum speed was 480 Km/h, range was 2960 Km, armaments were 13 machine guns
and the bomb load was 7850 kg.
In scale 1/72, this B-17 has detailed cockpit, moving turrets and structured surfaces. Moving
propellers and separate ailerons. Moving rudder and 10 Mgs. Moving bomb doors and retractable
landing gear.
