611, breaks out of the tunnel at Nemo, Tenn. on

built in the N&W shops in 1950.

The View from Above...
is spectacular as the Adirondack Scenic Railroad makes
an historic run on September 18, 2000. After many years
of hard work and volunteer hours, the first passenger
train in twenty years is seen headed north near Sabittis,
NY. The train will travel over 140 miles of track and
pass through such fabled locations as Big Moose,
Stillwater Reservoir, Beaver River, and Tupper &
Saranc lakes before arriving at Lake Placid, NY.

ADIRONDACK SCENIC EMD F7A
Saranac Lake's historic railroad station has been rebuilt
and is again an active station serving the restored

Saranac Lake. The locomotive is a General Motors
model F7A that was purchased from the TP&W railroad
September 30, 2000.

ERIE LACKAWANNA 821
Erie Lackawanna 821 heads west into the setting sun at
Sloatsburg, NY on April 25th, 1967, hauling ex-Erie
Stillwell coaches which featured a roof profile that was
unique to the Stillwell design. The clean E8 with its
handsome color scheme, was a refreshing contrast to
the drab liveries in use on many eastern railroads in the
later 1960's.

that heavy main line passenger service was feasible
