CANADIAN PACIFIC 2929
A rare 4-4-4 Jubilee type, Canadian Pacific
2929 leaves Montreal with the afternoon train
to Farnham, P.Q. in June of 1958. Semi-
streamlined locomotive was designed by H.B.
Bowen in 1937 for high speed passenger service.
No. 2929 is on display at Steamtown U.S.A.,
Bellows Falls, Vt.
    

COOPERSTOWN & CHARLOTTE VALLEY RR
0-6-0 switcher No. 2 of the Copperstown &
charlotte Valley Railroad leaves Cooperstown
Junction for Cooperstown, N.Y. with the Sat-
urday mixed train on the former Delaware &
Hudson branch. The C&CV is one of the coun-
try's newest shortlines, photographed during
the first month of service on May 15, 1971.

PENNSYLVANIA RR
Remember when the line-up of power opposite the
sunnyside enginehouse in New York looked like this?
This classic scene of four pin-stripped GGI locomotives
occurred in june 1954.
    

TOLEDO PEORIA & WESTERN 1020
GP38-2 No. 2010, a product of General Motor's
electro-Motive division, is seen in the yard near the
shops in East Peoria, Ill., November 9, 1978.

TAG RY.
Southern Ry. 2-8-0 No. 722 and former Sav-
annah & Atlanta 4-6-2 No. 750 lead a fan trip
over Blue Pond, Alabama on the TAG railway
in August 1971.
    

LONG ISLAND 601
Long Island train No. 604 breezes through St.
James, N.Y. with a modified Alco FA on the
front end. Power is supplied by a standard
diesel locomitive on the rear of the train.
June 18, 1971.

NATIONAL RAILWAYS OF MEXICO
The Puebla - Mexico City train, No. 109, takes
the curve a few miles out of Cuautla, Morelos.
This is part of the National Railways of Mexico
narrow gauge rail system. April 1966.
    

ERIE LACKAWANNA 3628
Pooled power runs over the combined
Delaware & Hudson and Boston & Maine
track, Ushers, N.Y., August 27, 1969. Erie
Lackawanna 3600 h.p. EMD SD45s, and other
power, too, were frequent visitors in D&H
land during this period.

ERIE RAILROAD
Eastbound Erie freight, with clean F units, is
at Hancock, N.Y., May 12, 1956.
    

LEHIGH VALLEY 314
A trio of General Motor's EMD GOP38-2
locomotives pause at Sayre, Pa., February 4,
1973. In 1976, due to the formation of Conrail,
this group of locomotives, 314-325, went to the
Delaware & Hudson and renumbered 7314-
7325.

SANTA FE
Eastbound Santa Fe Alco Alligator 802 is in a
sea of AT&SF blue and yellow, May 25, 1968,
east of Cajon Summit. This was the period
before the reintroduction of the war bonnet
styling in blue and yellow and then later in
classic red and silver.
    

ERIE LACKAWANNA 3303
Just back from service on the Delaware &
Hudson, General Electric U33C diesels 3301-
3303 are again in EL colors. They were traded,
in the late 60's, to the D&H for their SD45s.
3303 is at Hornell, N.Y., January 15, 1976.
Three months later, they will become part of a
new railroad, Conrail.

NORTHEAST KANSAS & MISSOURI
Locomotives 2210 and 2167 sparkle as they take their train
out of Elwood, KS, August 17, 1990. The NK&M took over
Union Pacific's St. Joseph Branch during the fall of 1989.
    

BURLINGTON ROUTE
Leased Rio Grande F-units are on train
Second 77 near Niwot, Colo., July 13, 1970.
Niwot was on the Burlington's Colorado &
Southern.

PORTLAND ROSE
Union Pacific train 18, the Portland Rose,
with classic Armour yellow E-units, makes
the station stop at Boise, Idaho, May 1969.
The eastbound consist included Streamlined
Sleeping Car, Reclining Seat Coaches and
Buffet-Lounge Car to Kansas City and Denver.
    

UNION PACIFIC 3600
Extra 3600E, with three Electro-Motive SD45s,
a Union Pacific and two Southern Pacifics, are
at Hennefer, Utah, may 1969. A Popular high
horsepower locomotive in the 60s and 70s, the
SD45 has almost appeared in the 90s.

VIRGINIA & MARYLAND 202
A vintage combine trails along behind Virginia &
Maryland Alco road switcher 202 on a June 8,
1979 "Shippers Special" Train is about to pass
under Route 13 between Onley and Tasley, VA.
The V&M provides sevice on the Virginia
Peninsula and car ferry service on the Norfolk-
Tidewater area.
    

THE SKI TRAIN
Denver & Rio Grande Western's popular F9s were used in
1984 on the Denver to Winter Park, CO Ski Train. Dramatic
night photo has cab nicely lighted and number board
displaying 5771. The train has just returned from the Winter
Park Ski Resort and unloads its tired but contented
passengers on track one. Denver, CO, March 4, 1984.

MARYLAND & DELAWRAE 22
Newly overhauled and repainted in a new paint
scheme, Alco built RS-1 locomotive is seen in
this night photo at the railroad's headquarters in
Federalsburg, MD, June 6, 1979. The Maryland
& Delaware provides freight service on three
lines on the Delmarva Peninsula with these 1000
h.p. locomotives.
    

VIA
Passenger service in Canada is to be oper-
ated by a new organization, VIA. Equipment
is being painted in new blue and yellow col-
ors. General Motors and MLW power in Pt.
St. charles, Montreal show the all VIA on
6524 and CN-VIA on 6778 color schemes.
