UH-19 A Chickasaw Helicopter

The Chickasaw was first built in the early fifties for the US armed forces and is considered to be one of the first real efficient helicopters in history. The UH-19 was extensively used by the Air Force, the Navy and the Marines for transporting assault troops, naval rescue and search missions during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. Later on the French forces used UH-19s during the Algerian conflict. This version was equipped with a large winch and floats for water landings and rescue missions. It was mainly stationed at American coastal bases for civilian emergency situations.
