  1. How do I hook up my new FTA receiver, I have a satellite receiver now.

    Take a look at this diagram. This is your basic building block for your connections. There are a lot of different ways to do it, but this is the simplest fashion.

    If you don't have both C and Ku band on you dish, you can eliminate the switch and one of the splitters.

    The receiver that is connected to the power passing port on the splitter must remain on to power the LNBs. Good thing I am better at other things than drawing, eh !

  2. Do I need special splittes or will any of the general variety splitters work?

    You need to make sure that you have a splitter that only will allow the DC power to flow through one path on the splitter. A normal splitter will allow both port to pass power, and will damage your receivers.

    We suggest you also use a low loss splitter such as those on our website.
