Corgi Guadalcanal F4U-1 Corsair & A6M2 Zero
In early 1942, the Americans began their offensive against the Japanese Southwest Pacific perimeter. General Douglas MacArthur was given the task of pushing north through the Solomons, New Guinea, and onto the Philippines. The key to success in the Solomons campaign was the rapid capture of completion by the Marines of a semi-operational Japanese airfield on Guadalcanal soon after the invasion of the islands on August 7, 1942. This two piece dogfight set depicts two of the aircraft which helped shape the bitter fighting that took place over Guadalcanal during this conflict.
The air war in Europe helped decide the outcome of the war. From the early dogfights between Spitfires and Messerschmitts in the skies over Britain to the bombing raids and fighter escourts late in the war, the history of this monumental conflict is rendered in striking detail and authenticity by Corgi.
