Formed at Leconfield England on May 30th, 1940, 249 Squadron RAF, "The Gold Coast Squadron," motto "With Fists and Heels," was the highest scoring RAF squadron of WWII. It fought with distinction during the battle of Britain and was the only squadron in Fighter command to have the honor of Victoria Cross being awarded to one of its members

The air war in Europe helped decide the outcome of the war. From the early dogfights between Spitfires and Messerschmitts in the skies over Britain to the bombing raids and fighter escorts late in the war, the history of this monumental conflict is rendered in striking detail and authenticity by Corgi. These aircaft can exhibited with the gear up or with the gear down and include the display stand.
