Corgi Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress Memphis Belle
B-17F, 41-24485 went into service with the 8th Air Force's 324th Bombardment Squadron based at Bassingbourne, Cambridgeshire. Coded DF-A and name Memphis Belle, the aircraft achieved celebrity status as the first Air Force bomber to complete 25 missions. Today the aircraft is on display at Mud Island, Tennessee. This version depicts the Memphis Belle with the markings at the rear of the fuselage removed and the wing tips painted silver.
The air war in Europe helped decide the outcome of the war. From the early dogfights between Spitfires and Messerschmitts in the skies over Britain to the bombing raids and fighter escourts late in the war, the history of this monumental conflict is rendered in striking detail and authenticity by Corgi.
